A rural community center for peace in Colombia

Thanks to you, the community of Vallecito will soon have a multicultural center!

Alfredo, has lived about 20 years of his 35 years of life in the village of Vallecito in San Pablo, Bolívar. He is a tireless leader who has always worked for his community and family, managing the participation of the inhabitants in the rebirth of Vallecito and achieve changes that improve their living conditions. In the kindest way that characterizes the region’s inhabitants, Alfredo wants to share with you, the people who believe that together we can empower the most vulnerable, some social, environmental and cultural impacts generated by the intervention of the SERVIVIENDA Foundation in the territory since 2012.

Alfredo remembers that thanks to donations from international organizations such as The Resource Foundation and national ones such as Fundación Gente Ecopetrol and SERVIVIENDA, the community achieved in a participatory way to plan the new village in a safe area, build 40 homes with basic sanitation and four social amenities (Health Center, Rural School, playground and Communication Center).

With your contribution, we will soon be able to build the Multicultural Center as a space for coexistence, cultural expression and recovery of the historical memory of this community affected by conflict and natural disasters.

"The cultural center will be a space that will allow us to exchange experiences internally in the township and at the regional level, as a way to foster our ability to organize and manage our own development". (Alfredo, 2015)
