Treatment of children with cancer requires complex, intensive, expensive regimens administered over prolonged periods of time. Almost 50% of children abandon care in the middle of their treatment due to the lack of family support and insufficient funds. This is the primary reason for treatment abandonment by parents which is affecting the cure rate of children. They need important support services including nutritious food, palliative care, transport, medicines, blood products, ICU & lab facility
IMPACT is actively working with the government, MNJ Hospital and various philanthropists and organizations to run the 85 bed child cancer ward with all required support services . Providing these basic support services will encourage them to complete the treatment thereby increasing the cure rate. We are confident that this will significantly improve the care we can offer to children.
Long term effects of providing important support services to children and their parents: 1. Decrease Treatment Abandonment Rate. 2. Increase the Cure Rate. 3. Children will be able to lead a healthy life and go back to school. More than 1500 cancer affected children per year will benefit from the Child Care Centre.
