This Camp will help us help children and teens over come the harm caused to them by adults, giving them a hope for the future by showing them that their present situations are not the norm of life, it will also help build trusting relationships with the campers that will allow us to take them into a mentorship program, where we help them become Champions and Leaders of the future.
In our community there are over 3000 children in the foster care system, with thousands more in urgent need of help. Daily these children are losing hope for their future, being continually told that they are not worth anything and will never amount to anything.
The camp is a place where children are shown love and attention which opens up a whole new world of hope and trust for them. It helps them gain confidence and self-worth, enabling them to laugh, sing, and have fun, offering them a place of gentleness and peace - where camp counsellors care enough to listen to their problems and help them.
Through this camp we will take 48 at risk children and speak into their lives, showing them that they are valuable, they will also be introduced to others that have been where they are and have been able to change their lives. They will be shown comping skills and introduced to a mentor that will work with them and provide them with skills to help them problem solve and manage anger.
