The South African youth has all the potential, passion and energy to build a powerful & successful nation. But they need our guidance, mentoring and support to develop awareness, sound values, courage and resilience to make conscious, responsible life choices. MOT partners with educational institutions, trains their staff & students as MOT Coaches & Young MOTivators, and provides the program manuals, equipment and monitoring to ensure 15000 youth in SA become active citizens and role models.
The majority of youth in South Africa are at-risk; being exposed to violence, gangsterism, substance abuse and lack of positive role models from a very early age. They are faced with daily challenges including poverty, unemployment, broken families, peer pressure, and often experience emotional, physical and/or sexual abuse. MOT South Africa focuses on strengthening the youth with awareness and courage to be, and accept themselves, and focus on their values, talents, potential, goals and dreams.
MOT creates robust and resilient youth and safe environments through MOT's philosophy, programmes and partnership model. The youth experience MOT as youthful, innovative & sincere. The MOT programs are based on 4 principles; work pro-actively (make good choices & avoid high-risk behaviour), see the whole person (developing insight & empathy), focus on the positive (strengths & opportunities) and give culture-builders responsibility (to include others and for their own behaviour, lives, future).
MOT achieves immediate and long-term impact on the youth, focusing on improved academic performance, completing their studies, and improving peer & family relationships. Through improved behaviour, discipline and mutual respect, the class culture becomes conducive to learning. MOT also empowers the youth with awareness, values, courage and life skills to make the right life choices for them to develop to their full potential and become role models, leaders and active citizens in the community.
