I would like to share a story of a girl who has truly faced the problems of family disputes, though she did a wonderful job to continue her studies.
“Have no fear of perfection, you will never reach it.”
- Salvador Dali
Rekha (name changed) is studying in 12th standard, her father is working as daily wages labor in field. But he has bad habit of drinking alcohol, and due to this bad habit he always waste all his income in drinking. Rekha’s mother was a house wife, but her husband was not giving money to family and that is why she started working to run the family. Rekha has three sisters and one younger brother. All the sisters are studying in school, Rekha is the eldest one. So she has the major responsibilities of the family.
Due to Rekha’s father’s bad habit, quarreled happened every day for small things in family. After all the years Rekha’s mother survived with her husband but in the recent years Rekha’s father started misbehaving with her wife. So her mother took her son and gone to her maternal home. After this incident all the responsibilities of family came on Rekha.
While interacting with Rekha we came to know that she has to start working from the early morning to cook food and other household work to reach school on time. She prepare afternoon lunch in the morning for her father, and all the sister eat mid-day-meal in the school. No breakfast in the morning, they only eats some evening extra food. She also has to wash all the family members’ clothes everyday as well as the burden of other household work. But she has never lose her hope, or never thought to quit her studies.
She shared that she always feel bad about her mother, and also about the bad habit of her father. She tries to convince her father to left alcohol, but her father is not ready to do so.
Rekha is really brave that she do all the work of family and also studies. She wants to become teacher, and she has no fear to reach to the goal.
We have seen so many family disputes in this area, and because of parents internal quarrel children has to suffer a lot. The parents cannot able to give proper guidance or motivation to children. The result is children drop out from school, or start engaging in other activities.
I have just shared a story of a brave girl, who is one of our beneficiaries with lots of motivation.
