SPEECH BY AWURAMA ON BEHALF OF THE AWARDEES
I stand in to thank FAWE Ghana Chapter for such a prestigious honor bestowed on us. I would not say so much, I am short of words because the award came unexpectedly. Sincerely it is giving me such an encouragement as a young lady to move on in life, in view of that we say a big thank you to FAWE Ghana Chapter Executives and then to my young ladies who are yet to come up. All I want to say is, when you want to move on, there are people to support you.
I joined FAWE junior club when I was in the junior high school and through motivation and education we received from our heads, I was able to compete in an essay competition and won a one year scholarship to Mfantsiman Girls’ Senior High School. It did not end there, that encouragement within me moved on with my interest to become a journalist. I pursued a diploma in journalism and I gained an ITM award as well.
Now I am in the University of Jayee a degree in journalism. If I am not the best student in my school, then I can boldly stand here today and say I am one of the best students in the school. All because of the good training FAWE offered me in some years ago. I will therefore entreat all of you ladies gathered here today to join FAWE junior club and focus more.
As young ladies, we need to move on in life, come up to compete with the guys. We should not fall back and let them take all positions. I pray and promise you that very soon you will see me as either a minister or as one of the best journalist in the country. On behalf of my colleagues I say, we promise to come out as prominent people in Ghana. It is not an empty promise but a fulfilled one.
Thank you.
