The aim of the project is to contribute to a sustained improvement of living conditions, stability and health in the rural population of four communities in Gbinleh-Dixian chiefdom in Kambia district. The main target group that will benefit are women, youth, and children of the selected communities. This project is designed to empower and build the capacity of 500 peasant farmers in four communities in Gbinleh-Dixian chiefdom and enhance them to produce enough food which becomes affordable.
The Chiefdoms selected for this project are amongst the least developed in terms of rural poverty. Within the Chiefdom the level of development and poverty vary from community to community. The communities selected for the implementation of this project are the most deprived in terms of development. Any development that has taken place is limited to communities with easy access. The trend is a recipe for conflict as youths, women and the aged as are not part of developmental activities.
This project will address the needs of fragile communities in these remote and neglected areas. All of the activities in the project will in one way or the other contribute to poverty reduction and consolidation of peace through training and input support. The project will focus on every member of the communities selected. It will specifically focus on the most vulnerable and at times the most volatile groups in the society, which are youth, women, single mothers and the aged.
Although, there is a presence of peace we will address the problem of illiteracy, poverty and public health, sanitation and hunger in Sierra Leone today. Corruption, poor educational system, poor governance, poor management of public funds, etc. are some of the reasons why the problems still exist. Kaddra Farm Inc. seeks to combat these issues by restoring resources to reserve the quality of life for the people in Sierra Leone, through farming activities in the chiefdom.
