On September 15, a devastating flood destroyed roads and bridges, leaving tens of thousands without their possessions or a way to escape. The disaster impacted 750 towns and cities, home to 2.4 million people. While aid is slowly arriving, urgent support is needed to help residents return home and rebuild their lives. They need everything from food and dishes to appliances and furniture. Together, we can help them!
On Sept. 15, a dam in Stronie burst, causing a massive flood in southern Poland. The wave destroyed houses, bridges, and flooded towns, affecting nearly 60,000 residents. Over 6,500 people were evacuated, and more than 11,000 buildings were destroyed. Immediate needs include flashlights, batteries, powerbanks, dehumidifiers, generators, pressure washers, rubber boots, and shovels. Returning residents need household appliances, furniture, cooking utensils, and warm clothing as temperatures drop.
With the funds raised, essential equipment will be purchased and delivered directly to those in need. Thanks to the fact that our 2 member organizations operate in flood-ravaged areas, we know exactly what is needed, and we will bring assistance adequate to the needs. We cooperate with local leaders and representatives of local institutions, and we have spaces to store aid. We will buy and deliver the necessary aid to those in need. Because aid should be given wisely!
Residents are counting on our help; NGOs are supporting those in need in solidarity. We have built a support network, but we need funds to help flood victims return to normal life. This help will still be needed for months to come.
