In Novohryhorivka village, Mykolaiv region, 95% of buildings were damaged during Russian occupation. Children lost kindergarten, school, cultural center, leaving youth without social opportunities. Residents repaired one building's interior and started youth center with daily events. Exterior remains damaged, community lacks funds for repairs and playground. Project will complete restoration and build playground for 100+ children. With cement secured and volunteers ready, only materials needed.
95% of residential buildings were damaged during the Russian occupation, leaving children without safe places to study and gather. No functioning kindergarten, school, or cultural center remains in the village. Mental health and social development are severely impacted by war trauma. Residents have repaired the interior of one of the surviving buildings and established a youth space center, but they lack funds for the necessary repairs.
This project will complete the exterior restoration, construct a playground and buy the basic furniture for the youth center where over 100 children and youth from Novohryhorivka and neighboring villages can safely gather. With cement already secured by the community and volunteers ready to work, only building materials are needed. Local teenagers are eager to help lead activities, creating a youth-driven space for healing, learning, and rebuilding their community.
More than 100 children and youth will have access to a safe recreational space. Families from several villages will benefit from this central location. Local teenagers will have the opportunity to develop leadership skills. Community resilience and social cohesion will be enhanced. Additionally, educational and cultural activities will complement online learning.
