The project will help children who were imprisoned to get back into the society. These children would have committed crimes and are arrested and subsequently put into prison. the aim of the project is to help them move on with their lives after prison. children will be trained in vocational skills with some going back to school. This will help break the cycle of graduating children into adult criminals. children will receive counselling and support from CATCH
CATCH is offering assistance to over 200 children in conflict with the law with legal aid and psychosocial support. It is worrisome to note that nothing is being done at a national level to ensure the rehabilitation and reintegration of such children once their matters are finalised in the formal justice system. Children are exposed to a lot of abuse in prison and often suffer from depression. Once they are out they have nothing to do and end up committing crimes.
We will provide care and support to child offenders, remove them from adult prisons and link them up with their families where possible. If not children will be removed from detention facilities to child friendly environments where they will receive counselling, vocational training and support from CATCH. Each child will be assigned a lawyer and a social worker to help children with legal services and counselling. this is meant to cut the vicious cycle of graduating children into adult criminals
We will help 200 remove from prison, we will train children into self help projects. Communities will be free from criminal activities.
