We are waiting for the end of quarantine
By Larysa Kuzmenko | Project Leader
Ukraine,
much like many other countries fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, has implemented
strict quarantine measures. Due to this, unfortunately, during these
unprecedented circumstances our organization is currently unable to carry out
our project supporting rehabilitation of children with hearing disabilities. We
are postponing our next rehabilitation camp program, currently scheduled for
May 15th, to a later date, after the end of quarantine. We hope this day will
come very soon. We want to thank GlobalGiving Team and our sponsors for your
continued support and understanding.
Sincerely,
Larysa Kuzmenko

Art-therapy supports development of children with hearing disability
By Larysa Kuzmenko | Project Leader
Our Fund has already organized 6 rehabilitation wellness camps for
children with hearing and speech disabilities. These children are now on a path
to recovery.
Currently our volunteers are raising additional funds to support
the next rehabilitation camp for 50 children recovering after cochlear implant
surgery and who look to our organization to help them with their recovery.
While our rehabilitation programs directly depend on the financial
support we receive from our valued sponsors, we and our partners used the time
between camps to open an art-studio, where children after cochlear implantation
surgery can develop through art-therapy (draw, dance, and create).
Art therapy serves as an important supplement to the rehabilitation
activities. It helps children with development, helps them express their
thoughts, share feelings, and work through fears.
We plan to hold our next rehabilitation camp in May or June of 2020. All
of our successes became possible thanks to your support, dear sponsors. We
express our deepest gratitude to all of you and hope that together we will
continue to do good and beneficial activities for our children.
Kind
regards,
Project manager,
Larysa Kuzmenko

Inclusive theater for children with hearing disabilities

Inclusive theater for children with hearing
disabilities
Inclusive theater for children with hearing
disabilities
In September we
organized our sixth rehabilitation camp “Verba-6” for children with hearing and
speech disabilities. The camp was held at a health center “Dachny”, where 25
more children successfully completed rehabilitation program, while their
parents gained valuable communication and coaching skills.
With support from our
Fund and organization “Rastem zdorovymy” (Grow in health), we participated in a
project titled “Inclusive theater for children with hearing disabilities”. In
August a number of young graduates from our rehabilitation program performed in
a children’s play “Little sorceresses”, presented at Kyiv’s Children’s Theater.
Young actors demonstrated their achievements as well as their acting skills.
They worked hard, making costumes, creating decorations, learning choreography
and their lines. Play’s plot was centered around the wonder of hearing.
Through this project
we would like to educate as many families as possible that deafness can be
reversed if a timely cochlear implant surgery is performed and followed by an
effective rehabilitation program.
We express our
sincere gratitude to our sponsors, who continue giving children an opportunity
to live full and healthy lives!
Best regards,
Project manager
