With the summer season approaching, Special Olympics Oregon participants are gearing up for many Summer Regional competitions. However, for many individuals, Special Olympics is about much more than competition.
Intellectual disability represents the largest disability population in Oregon and touches one in five Oregon families. Special Olympics Oregon currently serves 12,000 individuals each year, providing resources for health and wellness, creating life-long opportunities, and promoting respect and inclusion in our communities. For many it means that without Special Olympics their lives would be dramatically different.
This great KMTR news story about Special Olympics Oregon's Golf Team in Eugene is a great example of how Special Olympcis Oregon changes lives.
