The 2014 Plungers worked hard to raise $452,708 for Special Olympics Oregon last year! That's an increase of almost $15,000 from 2013!
How the Polar Plunge works: As a "plunger" you register to participate in one of the five plunges around the state. Maybe you join a team. Maybe not. Then you raise a minimum of $50 in pledges from friends and family (but the more you raise, the bigger your incentive prizes are). Then on plunge day you run or jump into the water and get out as fast as you can. You decide how far you want to go in. It's all done for fun and to raise money for a great cause.
How you can help
Special Olympics Oregon serves over 12,000 participants here in Oregon. Our mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.
Right now, there are more people with intellectual disabilities that could benefit from our training and programs than Special Olympics Oregon can financially provide for. Thanks to our supporters, we are helping more children and adults each year, which is why is why your support is so important. You can make a positive impact by helping to raise money for Special Olympics Oregon's 2015 Polar Plunge. Donate today to help us provide the life-long opportunites to our participants all year and spread the word!
Then, visit our website to register for a Polar Plunge in your area!
