Pinedale AZ is a small community in the White Mountain area of Northern Arizona, consisting of two counties (Apache & Navajo). Census figures indicate 70% to 80% of the residents in these two counties live in poverty. This also equates to lack of proper food for nutrition. Many residents are only able to afford "Fast food dollar menu" items to feed their families, which also contributes to the obesity problem. By increasing our organic food production, we can offer healthy whole food at non-organic prices, thus allowing more people to afford organic food. Through our educational programs of nutrition, we how to prepare fresh produce on a budget, how to use food to regain your health, and learn to feed entire families without having to spend a fortune. Fewer and fewer people know how to prepare real food, and turn to fast food or microwavable meals. Learning to make healthy meals is the first step.
As people learn to prepare healthy food, even grow their own, their health will increase and disease will decrease. Restoring health through food has an immense ripple effect. Less people with illness, which impacts local work production, less dependency on pharmaceutical meds, higher school attendance, better educations. In general regaining your health through nutrition can not only impact one family, but it can change a community and even the world. Nutrition is vital to life itself.
