We last reported that we had begun construction of the Aaron home in Pratt City on January 6th.
We are pleased to report that Ms. Aaron is happy and well in her new home. Additionally, we started construction on Mr. Cooper’s home at the beginning of March. Mr. Cooper, an Army veteran, lost his home in the April 2011 tornadoes. The home had been in his family for two generations when the storm came through. We began construction on his new home on his own lot on Saturday, March 8 – the dedication is Good Friday, April 18th. We also recently dedicated a home for the Stanton family in Pratt City, another family affected by the tornadoes.
Over the past few months, we have had hundreds of volunteers out on these sites – from colleges across the country, and churches here in the Greater Birmingham area. It takes a lot of willing hearts, helping hands, and yes, dedicated dollars to (re)build homes, communities and hope in our community.
Your contribution today can help us help families like the Aarons, Coopers, and Stanton in the coming months, as well as purchase abandoned lots in disaster affected communities so that we can revitalize neighborhoods still bearing scars from the storms.
