Progress Made in Disaster Recovery in Birmingham

Since the tornadoes tore through Central Alabama on April 27, 2011, Habitat Birmingham has worked diligently to assist individuals and families whose homes were damaged or destroyed by the storms. We are proud to report that through our collaboration with various agencies we have helped 222 families with their homes. This would not have been possible without the contributions by thousands of invididuals - both financial and volunteer support!

Over the past 18 months, over 7000 individuals have contributed volunteer support with a cummulative value of more than $800,000! That's one of the ways we have been able to help as many households as we have. Financial contributions are leveraged with volunteer service, in-kind donations of materials when available, and collaborations with other agencies to maximize our impact in our community.

Thank you for your past support in rebuilding Alabama. We are committed to continue with our efforts into the New Year, as there is still much to be done. If you would like to help us help others, your contribution is certainly appreciated!
