Progress Continues to Aid in Rebuilding Communities

By Beth Bradner | Vice President, Marketing & Development

The Smiths moved into their new home this fall.
The Smiths moved into their new home this fall.

Habitat Birmingham completed construction on three homes this past quarter in Pratt City and Pleasant Grove. Two of the homes were built for new families moving into Pleasant Grove, and one home was for a family living in Pratt City during the tornadoes. With the help of our sponsors, partners and volunteers, each of the families are happily in their new homes.

We begin construction on another home in Pratt City on January 6th for the Aaron family. Many of the volunteers helping build this home will be college students from across the country, traveling to Birmingham for our Collegiate Challenge Program. These students come spend a week service helping others during their school breaks. Habitat Birmingham will have 600 out of town (and some even from as far away as Canada!) college volunteers participating in Collegiate Challenge this year.

Habitat Birmingham depends on it donors and volunteers to fulfill its mission of building homes, communities and hope. Your contribution today can help us kick off 2014 with a strong start. Happy New Year!
