In Bolivia most poor families have no access to books nor reading activities. Thus we look to provide them with substantial books related to their culture and needs their younglings have. We would focus primarily on people from poor regions. Thuruchapitas teachers would visit their neighborhoods once a week during 8 months to share readings and life experiences in order to motivate them to read. All of this reinforces with family gatherings between all the program's families.
Most of the population has no access to reading materials nor have the interest to read due to the lack of incentive from the educational system and the lack of proper reading material available. With our project we seek to help children, teenagers and their parents to get access and share with their families the experience of reading and its effect on their lifes.
We will go weekly to their houses with reading materials to encourage them to read and dialogue between family members, by making them appreciate their culture and their past. All of this to make them know, appreciate and hold their citizen right of reading. We do not pretend to change their poverty situation, but to make them recognize their human rights and values so they can themselves improve their future.
It would make them possess and exercise the rights and values of their culture, being these such important tools for the rest of their lifes, allowing them to be more independent people with a better education, away from ignorance.
