On May 26th, sixteen of our students participated in the annual Music Partnership Concert held at the UCLA’s Schoenberg Auditorium. Many of the participants were excited to be invited back. Others, that felt overwhelmed by the sheer scale of the event, expressed a sense of satisfaction and a desire to revisit the site in the following years. Performing in front of a full auditorium (of about 600 people) was a great conquest for our young performers. Each one of them had a chance to have their own moment to shine on stage! No matter how worried and scared they were before playing their pieces, they all had wide smiles as they walked off the stage.
During the summer period, seventeen youth received one-on-one classes from UCLA staff and volunteers. Summer was a great time to work on strengthening the technical facilities of students. Additional emphasis was made on musicianship, covering aspects of sight singing, and basic music theory. Guitar students were encouraged to continue their practice by the piano instructors to help them sustain some of their training. The wait list for Fall continues to grow, and we are excited to continue our piano and guitar classes this fall.
