Push me once Piglet provides training to women in Gulu in commercial pig layering, marketing and provide them a set of piglet (seed) to start business. Keeping pigs for 4 month enables them to recycle to another member with a pair of piglet enabling the community transformation at once. 97 families are benefiting from the initiative.
The project continues to provide Piglet SEEDS as social a capital building project to women in Gulu -Uganda. As the community rebuilds and recovers, meaningful community owned development programs are very important.
For Gulu to have a sustainable recovery, families must rebuild their household income at a household level. Gulu remains to be the central market for Northern Uganda and Southern Sudan with so training women in rearing pigs for business enables them to have successful household income.
To date we have trained 105 women and given out 97 pairs of Push me Once piglets to 97 women. In our 3rd recycle 15 pairs have been recycled to more 15 new members, making the total beneficiaries to 97 women in just 1 year and 7 month. Our average amount is $ 60 USD, for a pair of Push me once piglet which is recycled after 4-5 month and continue to reach more women in the community.
We need to continue reaching more women with pig SEEDs. By donating to our program you are helping us reach more and more women with a lasting kick start to their lives. This project provide women with the means to take care of themselves and their families, send their children to school, purchase medicines, and experience increased household income which creates promotes decision making in their homes hence sustainable empowerment
