When a natural disaster strikes without notice it often causes Post Traumatic Stress for survivors and it especially impacts the youth. Please help provide Psychological First Aid to the Youth Survivors as they are evacuated from a natural disaster. This also includes long term disaster recovery skills for psychological healing and resilience.
Those most affected by Natural Disasters are often Children/Youth. Research shows that trauma stays deep within a person and providing Psychological First Aid (PFA) as quickly as possible can help limit Post Traumatic Stress Injuries.
Providing immediate and compassionate intervention can minimize long term emotional and physical impact on the individual. NVCSS Disaster Services department has trained PFA professional responders. They can rapidly respond to emergency shelters to meet with survivors and provide PFA immediately and throughout their recovery process.
By providing PFA we will: reduce the impact of trauma and post traumatic stress illness to disaster survivors and provide long term follow-up to survivors to help them build key coping and stress management skills that will benefit them throughout their whole life.
