The official school report at Chisu and Chimutu CDSS's indicate that there are about 80 girls that are at risk of dropping out of school due to long distance. These girls walk an average distance of 26 km to get to and from school. To address this problem we would like to provide bicycles to 60 girls so that they can travel more easily. This project will save these girls from dropping out of school, improve class performance learning outcomes and reduce the risk of sexual harassment on way.
There are about 80 girls that are at risk of dropping out of school due to long distances they walk from home to school. At Chisu CDSS about 45 girls walk a distance of approximately 30 km to get to school everyday and at Chimutu CDSS about 35 girls walk almost 21 km. This has had negative impacts on girls education which include getting to school very late and tired, lose of concentration on class work, sexually harassed on their way to and from school and poor learning outcomes and dropouts
The bicycles will help girls to get to school early with fresh minds which will make them to concentrate on class work. It will also motivate girls to work hard in school which will eventually increase
We will help 60 girls to complete their Secondary school education and improve their school performance, learning outcomes and protection from sexual abuse
