With the constant support of donors we at NBJK are able to reach the poorest of community via our two well-equipped Eye hospitals in the poorest state of India, Jharkhand. Jharkhand is a tribal dominated state with very poor literacy rate and awareness amongst the community. Even the medical facilities are very sluggish with no one at the aid of the poor, marginalised and needy community.
With the support of people like you we are continuosuly in the process of transforming lives of people. NBJK conducts regular Village Screeing Camps to educate and diagnose people suffering from eye diseases. They are diagnosed free of cost and are also counselled by experienced doctors and counsellors. Many people in the commmunity have benefitted with the support of the project and have restored their vision.
Similar is the story of Ms. Saroni Soren, 75 years, who was unable to carry her daily life activities due to her poor vision. She is a resident of Badtalli village of Dumka block, Jharkhand. They are 6 members in the family; all working hard to fulfill their basic necessities of life. Her husband, Johar Marandi, her son and her daughter-in-law work as a daily wage labourer to run the family.
Her daughter-in-law leaves her two kids at home with Saroni Soren to look after them with the hope to earn some money and not let her family members sleep on an empty stomach. Due to poor vision of Saroni, she was finding it difficult to take care of the kids and even herself. The NBJK Screening Camp was a turning moment in her life when she visited the camp and was diagnosed of cataract in her right eye.
She was taken to the hospital in the Hospital van and was operated successfully with proper pre and post medication. Now, she is very happy to see everything clearly and she together with her family express their gratitude for the kind support.
Please lend your support and give the Gift of Vision/Eyesight to some in need this christmas. We wish you all Merry Christmas and Very Very Happy New Year 2014.
