Summary

Our mission is to enable children and veterans with special needs to live safer and more independent lives with help and companionship of a properly bred and trained service dog. We can make this happen at Five Oaks Therapy Dogs through our breeding and training programs. Service dogs make a significant difference in the lives of people with disabilities.

Challenge

An estimated 70% of people who could benefit from a service dog can't afford one. Service dogs can cost up to $25,000 and insurance does not cover the cost. With your donation we will be able to decrease the cost for individuals who can't afford a service dog and allow us to donate more dogs for established service dog programs.

Solution

A Labrador Retriever is a highly versatile breed and is considered one of the best canine breeds to train as a service dog. At Five Oaks, we will be able to breed specific characteristics and traits in the pups, with the additional breeding stock. These traits include Intelligence, temperament, health, natural ability, and willingness to learn. This will allow us to continue to breed top quality Labrador Retrievers for the service dog community.

Long-Term Impact

Many children suffer from Type 1 diabetes. With intense loyalty and desire to please, Diabetic Alert Dogs will bring the child emotional security, companionship, confidence and a friend for life. Another increasingly successful use of Service Dogs is providing support to Veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other disabilities. Help us make a difference in the lives of our children and veterans.
