Since the launch of the school meals program in 17 primary schools in Mbola, Tanzania in January 2008, school enrollment increased by 10.73% for boys and 5.22% for girls respectively, since the project was implemented in December 2007. The attendance rate, defined as the percentage of the enrolled pupils in primary schools, has increased to 100% in the first quarter of the year 2008 from 94% in December 2007. Finally, the number of students fed at school by the school meals program has increased from 7.44% in December 2007 to 94.8% in March 2008. By providing nutritious meals to almost every student enrolled, the foundation is set for the ability to learn, play and enjoy the preferences of a regular school education.
