Sunkissed Acres shelter 1 under construction
After a summer full of heat, drought and rising hay and grain costs, we sure are glad to see fall arrive here at Sunkissed Acres! While hay prices remain astronomical at least there are reports that grain prices may drop a bit, such good news with budgets stretched to the limits.
One thing we wont have to worry about is shelter for our sanctuary horses, and that is because you have helped us raise nearly $6300 for our shelters and fencing. One shelter is almost fully complete, and the other is just waiting for the completion of our GlobalGiving.org project goal. I can tell you this...it feels so good knowing that these amazing horses have a clean, dry and warm place to go when the winds, rain and snow begin to fall here in the mountains of northern Georgia. It will be easier for them to maintain their weight too, which is vital for senior and special needs horses.
Remember Ivanessa? Take a look at the photos of her now, she is indeed in foal...not what we had hoped for! But she is now in good health and we are hopeful that her foaling will be quick, easy and that mom and baby will be just fine.
Recently there was Bailey, as you can see from his photo he was in very poor condition. Bailey blossomed with love, care and an ample supply of good hay. Even better...he was adopted!
Your continued support of our GlobalGiving.org project makes it possible for us to provide refuge and rehabilitation to horses like Ivanessa, Bailey, and the hundreds of others who have entered this farm over the past decade. We cannot do this important work without you, and we appreciate your generosity each and every day when we look outside and see healthy, happy horses who nicker back at us!
