Spring Updates

By Tamar Eisen | Director of Individual Giving

GlobeMed at Northwestern has had an exciting and successful past few months! Our World Day of Social Justice programming included a canvas board in which students wrote what mental health meant to them and a world cafe on hunger and food insecurity. Many of our chapter members just attended the GlobeMed National Summit, whose theme was partnering for systemic change. It was an incredible time to connect with other chapters, think critically about our own chapter, and reinvigorate our passions to continue partnering with the Adonai Centre to better the health of the Namugoga community.

Looking forward, we are working hard on planning our first ever benefit dinner taking place on May 13. This GlobeMed night of appreciation will highlight the accomplishments of GlobeMed at Northwestern by honoring alumni and contributers to this wonderful organization. We are so excited for this event and hope that its fundraising results will have a substantial impact on Adonai.

Our weekly meetings in the past few months have been dedicated to exploring health as it relates to gender and sexuality around the world. These discussions have brought about a wider understanding of public health and the complexities of the systems that govern the field. In the Spring, we will be delving deeper into GlobeMed's advocacy component, in which we will commit ourselves to discussing the importance of engaging with the world around us.

We are also extremely excited to introduce a new executive board led by the chapter co-presidents, Victoria Zapater and Natalie Sack. This board is a team of passionate and committed individuals who are dedicated to seeing Adonai thrive, and we cannot wait to see what they will do in the next year.

As always, we want to continuously thank all of our supporters and donors! The global health equity movement involves everybody and we cannot do what we do without all of you!
