Hello world! The leaves are changing color, which means GlobeMed at Northwestern is back in session for another great year. We are currently in the process of recruiting our new members and we are so excited about all of our passionate and enthusiastic applicants! Our first meeting of the new chapter will be this week and we cannot wait to get started engaging our new members.
The first campaign of the year is coming up soon: our second annual Holiday Sweater Drive will be happening before Thanksgiving. We will be collecting sweaters from various thrift stores and selling it to students for low prices. This drive was a major success last year, raising over $1000 dollars from just three days of selling sweaters. We cannot wait to see what the drive will bring this year!
The GROW team came back from their trip to Adonai in Mid-September where they had the opportunity of working closely with The Adonai Center as well as conducting a research project teaching young girls about menstruation. Many of these girls end up missing large portions of their schooling due to limited access of sanitary napkins and other necessary supplies so our team is hoping to spread awareness and begin to change that.
Our partnership with the Adonai Center has been thriving, as our GROW team also cultivated a strong relationship with the directors, whom we will plan to welcome to Chicago in March! Thank you so much for following GlobeMed at Northwestern and we truly appreciate your continued support!
