Spring Time Brings Exciting Changes and Growth!

By Tade Mengesha | Outgoing Internal Co-President

GlobeMed at Northwestern has had an exciting and dynamic past couple of months. We have had a few smaller fundraising campaigns such as bake sales and selling other items- raising altogether over $450. Many of our chapter members have just attended the GlobeMed National Summit. It was an opportune time to connect with other chapters, think critically about our own chapter, and reinvigorate our passions to continue partnering with the Adonai Centre to better the health of the Namugoga community. Shortly after the National Summit, Chicago GlobeMed chapters also held their own smaller conference and this was an important experience for Northwestern members. It not only gave us a chance to network with other chapters to improve the member experience, but also was a chance for Northwestern chapter members to strategize about our future and laying out concrete details for next steps.

Looking forward, we are planning our spring quarter fundraising events. Our 3rd annual 5K/Fun Run is happening at the end of May and is open to anyone in the Evanston/Chicago area. During our weekly global health discussions, members have engaged in serious conversations about our partnership. We talked about the projects we are currently administering at Adonai and the importance of the partnership. These conversations are critical starting points for evaluating our partnership, understanding our impact, and improving measures for the following year.

As always, we want to continuously thank all of our supporters and donors! The global health equity movement involves everybody adn we cannot do what we do without all of you! We are extremely ecstatic of the new chapter co-presidents, Matt Zhou and Brittany Zelch, to take over and lead the chapter to great accomplishments next year. We hope you all are too!
