This spring, our new Executive Board members jumped head first into planning and executing our short and long-term goals! As the school year came to a close, we wrapped up the year by hosting our 3rd annual Globemed 5K/Fun Run over Memorial Day Weekend. This year, we were fourtunate to have many individuals from the Evanston community participate, as well as many families! This was a great way for us to connect not only with our campus, but also with our local community.
Globemed at Northwestern also participated in and won $1000 in a video competition! The competition was hosted by Northwestern Student Holdings, a student group that houses a number of student-run companies. Globemed competed with 6 other social justice and philanthropic student groups in a week long competition where each group posted a video explaining who they were and the impact of their work, and whichever group’s video received the most votes won. Globemed came in first with over 1,200 votes! Although winning the prize money was a wonderful way to help us reach our funding goal for Adonai, our chapter agreed that another incredible reward of winning was knowing that we were able to spread awareness of who we are and what we are doing to so many people!
If you would like to see the video, it is still online at this link: http://www.nshimpact.com/globemed/
In a few weeks, the GROW (Grassroots On-site Work) team will return back to Namugoga, Uganda. This will be our second trip to the Adonai Centre! They will be staying for about a month, conducting research, implementing current projects, and seeing the results and impact of our fundraising. We are so excited for the GROW team to come back with updates and meaningful experiences so that we can continue to build this relationship!
Thank you so much for your support throughout the 2013-2014 year. We would not be able to accomplish our goals without you and we are so grateful! We can’t wait to share what the coming year will bring with you!
