Team Hurricane Basketball Academy aims to provide highly-talented, economically-disadvantaged student-athletes from various parts of Africa with an opportunity to travel to Bermuda to do secondary education coursework through our Hurricane Preparatory Academy or Bermuda College while participating in elite athletic training. Through academic courses and intensive skills training our student-athletes gain the skills and experience necessary to expand their U.S. college recruitment
Many talented student-athletes in Africa lack the financial resources to take part in vital secondary education programs that will enable them to gain exposure to academic & athletic opportunities at U.S. colleges. As a result, there is a need to provide rigorous academic & athletic training that will allow students to be recruited by U.S. colleges while also providing them with the skills needed to transition effectively at the collegiate level in the classroom, on the court and socially.
This program will work tirelessly to market, promote, and expose the potential of its student-athletes. It is dedicated to the advancement of its students to the collegiate level. Through academic coursework, on-court skills training, basketball specific athletic performance training, and top-level competition, this project will allow our student-athletes to gain the skills and experience necessary to expand their college recruitment and create additional options for their collegiate career.
This project will provide excellent opportunities for 8 - 10 students to pursue a college education. Once equipped with a college degree they will be on course to overcome financial limitations back home and have a bright future for their chosen career path. Working with students who come from modest means, this project creates a chance for them to pursue higher education dreams and a chance to establish a good career and become leaders back in their homeland.
