Water Board Meeting and Government Organizations
Water Board Meeting and Government Organizations

The water management board of El Pital strongly believes in strategic alliances for the long-term sustainability of the water system. That is why he meets with government organizations that work in the field of forest and water care.

Constant meetings are held to address the issue of easement permits for the construction of the new potable water system, as well as deforestation and the negative effects it is having on water sources, and work is being done on an environmental protection plan , which ensures that you have water in quantity, and quality.

These meetings also address the issue of health, and how to work prevention through cleaning and garbage collection campaigns, among others.

According to statistical data from the health center of El Pital, parasitic and respiratory diseases have decreased, as well as dengue, malaria, chikungunya and zika, as a result of the prevention work that is being carried out.

All these activities require a budget, and the success achieved would not be possible without the contribution of many people. That is why we invite you to continue collaborating to improve the living conditions of these communities.

The quality of the water is conditioned to many factors, within these, the control of the garbage.

It is for this reason that the water management board is leading cleaning activities and good waste management, to avoid water contamination.

Testimony of two members of the water management board:

Testimony 1.

As a community leader it is our responsibility to ensure quality water. That is why we work in cleaning campaigns. In addition, this helps to reduce the presence of the mosquito transmitter of dengue, malaria, chikungunya, zika. That is to say that with the same activity we are dealing with several problems.

Testimony 2.

As president of the water management board, we believe that our role should not only focus on the specific water issue, but also to be able to address all those aspects that make water quality decrease, such as garbage.

Our work is not limited to carrying out only the cleaning campaign, but also educating the population on how to ensure clean water.

All this impact we are having on the quality of life, through offering clean water, and quality health, would not be possible without your valuable support and collaboration.

We invite you to continue supporting our program, and to share with your friends the positive impact we are having. Together we can make a difference in the lives of many.

Building a sustainable path

Water is life... that is why it is necessary to ensure a sustainable project that guarantees quality water in abundance.

In February 2019, two engineers specializing in water and basic sanitation visited, who made a thorough design review to lower costs and ensure that the driving system will provide water to all homes in El Pital. The results were presented to the community, and work is now being done on the permits for the passage of the pipeline through the properties, with whom an agreement will be signed.

The success of the project is based on the construction of local capacities, with the strong participation of the water management board and the community in general.

Testimony of Engineer:

We have worked on project designs for many years in various regions of the country, but none have the bases and structure like this one of El Pital, which includes a pedagogical and training process for the beneficiaries, which ensures long-term sustainability and empowers key actors. A project that includes micro projects of basic and environmental sanitation, something that should never be separated from the water issue.

We continue to transform positive changes thanks to you who has been part of our collaborators, through your individual donations. We hope you will continue to accompany us in these transformations of life.

Environmental education, breaking paradigms

Generating clean water involves working several aspects around this vital liquid. It involves educating the population and creating greater environmental awareness that reduces pollution.

A few days ago, a campaign was launched under the slogan "Without garbage, we will have a better quality of life", where children from 9 schools of the sector participated, who received training on the three "R's" (Reduce, Recycle, Reuse).

Each child created his own message, which was located in different points of his community, in order to create greater environmental awareness in the population.

In the image, we can see read the message of a child: "Do not throw garbage in the street"

After the launch of the campaign, we have listened to the following testimonies:

Our children have given an important message to adults. They have taught us through their campaign, that a clean community is more beautiful and splendid. And that water sources reduce their pollution.

-Testimony of an inhabitant of one of the communities

After the launch of the campaign, we have been able to observe better control and recycling of garbage. And we have come together to beautify our community. And, above all, avoid pollution. This type of educational campaigns only shows that with little you can do much.

-Testimony of an inhabitant of one of the communities

After listening to these testimonies, and looking at the changes, we believe that education is one of the most important pillars that bring sustainable changes. Therefore, we will continue to bet on including pedagogy as a transversal axis in our programs.

We want to thank you for being part of our success, and for continuing to believe that together we can create change. Show our story to your friends and invite them to be part of our work.

Women leaders, making a difference...

Testimony of two women (see photograph of this story)

The Water Management Board works as a team to offer a quality service to its beneficiaries. They are responsible for ensuring that people in their community receive clean water, and that the water distribution pipe system works correctly. In addition, it works in the protection of the environment.

The leadership of this water management board has been strengthened through a pedagogical process, which promotes gender equity, teamwork, water and basic sanitation, the environment, and others.

Something fantastic and curious in this program, is that the maintenance of the water system has the participation and involvement of women, who are also part of the management board, achieving more inclusion of women in community projects, something that previously was only a dream for them.

Before they invited us to be part of a board of directors, but they never gave us responsibilities, we were practically a figure within the administrative structure, without giving us value and importance. Today we have shown that women can also, and that we deserve equal treatment. We will be the voice and the face of those women invisible for machismo, until we reverse that situation.

We want to thank all the people who support this program, and to say that thanks to this collaboration, we are now achieving significant changes in the quality of life of the beneficiaries. You are also part of our success.

! Together we can do the difference!
