IPROSARUDE plans to organize 24 cervical cancer care out reach in Burundi rural areas .We will provided awareness ,free screening and treatment for women elderly between 25 and 64 years .This project will supported 2400 women .
Burundi is among the countries with a very high mortality rate related to cervical cancer(34.9% of all cancer deaths) according to the World Health Organization 2014 report. The absence of a screening program and the lack of adequate management of cancer cases make cervical cancer morbidity and mortality the highest (more than 70% of women consult at very advanced stage of disease.The outreach campaign will approached the services to women from rural areas and increased the early treatment.
Through the outreach strategies, we will approach services for women in marginalized areas. This will enable awareness for the interest of early detection, counseling for screening, screening for women who want it and on-site treatment with cryotherapy for women with precancerous lesions. Women with advanced stage, will be referred to hospitals for appropriate treatment.
The project will provide screening for 2,400 rural women with on-site treatment of at least 95% of women with precancerous lesions, which will significantly reduce the cancer death rate by stopping the evolutions precancerous lesions to the cancer disease and keep healthy women.In addition, awareness will increase the knowledge of women on the means of prevention.
