Burundi is among the countries with a very high mortality rate related to cervical cancer(34.9% of all cancer deaths) according to the World Health Organization 2014 report. The absence of screening program and lack of adequate management of cancer cases make cervical cancer morbidity and mortality the highest (more than 70% of women consult at very advanced stage of the disease). The early treatment will help us to decrease the women deaths.
Through the treatment center, we will approach services for women in marginalized areas. This will enable us to set up the site treatment with cryotherapy for women with precancerous lesions. Women with advanced stage, will be referred to hospitals for appropriate treatment.
The project will provide treatment for 30 rural women with on-site treatment of at least 95% of women with precancerous lesions, which will significantly reduce the cancer death rate by reducing the evolutions precancerous lesions to the cancer disease and keep women healthy .The success of this project will increase the knowledge of women on early treatment.
