The Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy, Inc. mission is to provide a dynamic learning experience where young people can develop and enhance their athletic abilities while striving for academic excellence. We are helping students who have skills and passion in baseball and using this as a tool to help these students complete high school and gain college access. The school provides FREE transportation to students from all over Puerto Rico who would otherwise not have the opportunity to enroll.
Puerto Rico has one of the highest percentages of high school desertion in the United States. These youths then become a social burden with no education, little to none employment opportunities and this usually leads them to a life of crime and drugs. It has been proven scientifically that athletes mainly develop their kinesthetic intelligence, this is one of the reasons, that as children they get bored easily and are usually not successful in a traditional school environment.
Our program motivates boys that are skilled in baseball and would otherwise fail in the traditional school system to study while enhancing their skills and in this way gain college access through sports scholarships. The school academic and sport development program has been developed to provide these youths with the stimulants and individual mentoring that they need to assure they graduate from high school. By providing FREE transportation we can reach out to all boys in Puerto Rico.
Up to date, the CBBA has graduated 167 students of which 152 have been able to access college through baseball scholarships. Thirteen of the students have been able to sign into the MLB professional baseball program assuring a professional career in the baseball field. We are certain our program will continue to positively impact our students so that they can gain college access and attain their college degree giving them the opportunity of a better quality of life and become change agents.
