Today Humanity is facing one of the biggest challenges of its time. There is a global need to work together to reduce the carbon emission to net-zero by 2050. Today's youth under 25 is getting angry and agitated with world's laid back attitude and of being in denial about the climate change issues and not making enough efforts to reduce the use of fossil fuels. Youth is active and ready to challenge the current societies functioning and demand the wellbeing of current and future generations.
WAFA is strengthening its engagements in the global communities to support climate change initiatives. The 2020 WAFA Youth Climate Award will focus on youth under 25 from the global South who are working for sustainable development while keeping fossil fuels in the ground. The Award will target projects that can be shared across the planet for replication. WAFA will also publicize the awarded projects for potential investments for required scale up in specific geographic locations globally.
Due to increased strategic exposure of the projects, many projects that could not take off due to lack of resources will have chance to scale and replicate. These sustainable solutions will be useful in combating the climate change. Positive message will spread and more people will adopt the sustainable measure and eventually WAFA winners and aspirants will follow them and this will spread the word like fire. This is important message & deserves a lot more exposure and commitment from all of us.
