This Christmas, we are sending a warm "gift" to SVW Anti-poaching officers who are working dedicatedly to protect Vietnamese wildlife. SVW would like to call for donations to buy patrolling equipment for 23 Anti-poaching officers of SVW for the next 2 YEARS. Each package includes 1 backpack and 1 rain gear set specialized for forest patrolling.
Deforestation activities have resulted in the destruction of habitats and natural environments for many wild animals. This has led to a significant decline in wild animal populations and pushed nature into a state of imbalance that is challenging to restore. Along with forest destruction, the current issue of hunting and trafficking of wildlife is also a significant factor contributing to the decline of wild animal populations.
In the given context, in mid-2018, Save Vietnam's Wildlife (SVW) established the first Anti-poaching Unit in Vietnam. With a mission to combat illegal hunting, protect forests, and engage communities in nature conservation, the Anti-poaching team has achieved remarkable success in patrolling and forest protection efforts such as: (1) Collaborated with 4 national parks to arrest 1082 violators; (2) Removed 20,735 animal traps; (3) Confiscated 138 guns; (4) Destroyed 1109 illegal hunting camps.
In 2024, in addition to the regular weekly activities of patrolling and preventing illegal wildlife trafficking, SVW Anti-poaching model will participate in raising awareness among residents living in buffer zones and areas surrounding national forests. The aim is to help them understand the importance of forests and wildlife, thereby generating sustainable forest protection solutions.
