Protect 2000 Nigeria Girls with school fence

by Christ's School Alumni Association of NorthAmerica

2000 Christ's School, Ado-Ekiti girls, daily live on campus without fence. Ado became a state capital and much bigger. Hostels are bugled, risk of rape, risk of girl abduction, inability to sleep at night from fear. Dilapidated teachers' houses, few convinced to stay on campus do not feel safe because their houses are broken in to. Risk of having girls in dormitories without adult supervision after school hours if they leave. Squatters encroach on land; lost access to brook. Goats invasion.

Christ's School has 2 boarding schools across a major road from each other. Age 9-20 years, a girl was knocked down and killed in 1979 crossing between campuses. Boy's Section was fenced, girls have no fence. Daily risk of rape, child abduction, burglary, squatters on their land, goat invasion. Former land owners now request to take this land after 60 years. Lack of fence fired their greed, hoping to get this land to sell. Burglary grilles were used to protect the windows, emergency exit blocked!

Ensures gated community where 9-20 year old girls can sleep without fear at night. Rapists, abductors, kidnappers, burglars, squatters, animal influx will be deterred. We will be able to bring more teachers back to live within the school compound. Few that are living in the dilapidated houses now have their houses broken in to. If they leave, young girls will be without adult supervision after school hours. They will be able to read in the prep at night, better exam results mean better future.

Long-Term Impact

We will be able to continue to train educated girls who feel safe in their bodies. Serene beauty of their environment will be restored. Teachers will come back on campus to provide additional non-didactic guidance. The ongoing process of re-merging the boys and girls will be executable with minimized road hazards. We would be able to lift other schools up.This school has turned out the most professors in Nigeria. Will encourage us to continue to give, will be able to produce more high achievers.
