This project will establish a safe space for teenage girls to access menstrual hygiene education, sanitary pads and other adolescent health services in the school - providing a conducive environment for young girls to stay in class without any major disruption throughout the school calendar year.
Teenage girls attending school at Munkunyu Parents Primary School miss classes during their menstruation periods, forcing them to be unfairly out-competed by the boys. The girls eventually fail to meet the promotion mark, repeat classes, and drop out of school. The school too, has a very limited capacity to promote menstrual hygiene, and keep girls in class. The school being a community not-for-profit school has limited resources to optimize menstrual health in its co-curricula activities.
This project will establish a safe space for girls to access menstrual hygiene supplies, adolescent sexual and reproductive health education, and other teenage health services at Munkunyu Parents Primary School. Donations will directly go to the purchase of sanitary pads, sanitation kits, and setting up a safe safe space for teenage girls in the school compound.
The ultimate impact of this project is improving the health and learning outcomes among teenage girls at Munkunyu Parents Primary School. The Practical result of this project is having teenage girls attend class, access critical literacy support services, compete equally with the boys in class, get promotion to the next class, and are not frustrated to drop out of school.
