E-Coaching and Support for Young Entrepreneurs

by Association of African Entrepreneurs

The Youth Employment Network's (YEN) E-coaching Service closed down last year,  causing many new entrepreneurs to miss their turn use the site's  e-coaching network to develop themselves and their businesses.

Coaching or mentoring programs match young entrepreneurs with experienced professionals to help them develop the skills necessary to make their enterprise grow. Under the AAE -  YEN Marketplace E-Coaching Service Partnership Program which becgan in May 2012, AAE acted as one of YEN's Pipeline partner of the YEN , where our specific role is to help attract young entrepreneurs and e-coaches from around the world by sharing the opportunity to apply for the E-Coaching programme. During the program 65 young entrepreneurs were trained by 32 E-coaches through AAE's collaboration.

This month, we are glad to partner with  Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI) to support young entrepreneurship and increase the impact of the current mentoring initiatives of both organizations.

CYFI leads the world’s largest Movement dedicated to enhancing the financial capabilities of children and youth. Launched in April 2012, the Movement has already spread to over 100 countries and has reached more than 18 million children. The Movement leverages expertise and innovation from within its network of global organizations. Its partners and supporters include financial authorities and some of the world’s leading financial institutions, international NGOs, multilateral and bilateral organizations, foundations, renowned academics, and of course, children and youth.

Unemployment is one of the most serious problems facing the African continent, affecting especially the youth who cover close to between 60% and 70% of the continents population. The response of the Association of African Entrepreneurs is to educate and provide a range of services to enrich the lives of young Africans.

Young African entrepreneurs CAN be an essential component of Africa's wealth creation. They could help grow prosperity in African communities. They CAN be part of the solution to alleviating poverty. They are a vital piece of a puzzle that cannot be completed by government and international NGOs alone.

However, for young entrepreneurs to achieve this success it is necessary to foster a productive space: one in which information is freely available and cooperation is widespread and encouraged.

AAE is partnering all territorial actors in designing new and durable solutions to the youth employment challenge by offering local support and E-Coaching Programs. Current partners include the Youth Employment Network (YEN), Zidisha Microfinance, UN Online Volunteering Program amongst others. The YEN program matches internationally experienced mentors to young entrepreneurs (YEs). Zidisha offers offer microlending to young entrepreneurs to start or expand a business.

These variety of support and co-operation activities could help businesses grow, compete, and internationalize : empowering young entrepreneurs to contribute to Africa's social and economic development on a long-term basis. Get involved.

Just a quick note to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year. I am very excited about 2014 and believe it's going to be a great year ever for everyone.

Cheers and best wishes from the heart.

Enjoy the end of 2013 and keep the momentum going for the E-Coaching Center Project. For Evans Sackitey, an AAE member in Ghana, who we refered for a Zidisha loan last week, it is their only chance to recieve the help they need to see their dreams come true!

I look forward to welcoming the new year with you in mind

Thanks to you, we have almost finished laying the foundation of the building of AAE's E-Coaching center in Ghana.

We hope to keep the builders at work until the roofing stage.  In order to get there, we must raise at least USD $2000 on or before October 9th, 2013. We could achieve this only with your valuable support.

Once again, I am asking you to spread the word to potential donors. Bring this up in conversation with friends and family and  ask if they could give as little as $10 to the  AAE project. Every little bit counts!

GOOD NEWS! Donations would be matched at 30% on Oct. 9th by Global Giving.

A Million Thanks!

We're so excited about our performance so far!

Thank you for joining June's top Awareness Raiser, Sachidanand Sahoo to raise USD$90 for the AAE E-Coaching Center project!

A BIG thank you to you all for giving time and money to  this GREAT CAUSE and informing people about the AAE initiative.

Our Target for August is USD$1,500.

Join hands as we start breaking grounds to lay the first foundations of AAE's E-Coaching Center in Ghana -  a greatly needed infrastructure to educate and enrich this lives of young Africans.

Won't you like to contribute to this?
We can achieve this if you ask five new people YOU know to donate at least $10 each week!

Thank YOU for joining the AAE Campaign!!
