Project HOPE is actively responding to both Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton, addressing critical needs in affected communities. In North Carolina, teams are distributing health and WASH supplies while providing mental health support, while in Florida, the Emergency Response team is coordinating with partners to deliver aid to those impacted by Hurricane Milton's catastrophic landfall.
Hurricane Milton made landfall overnight as a Category 5 storm, causing widespread devastation and creating urgent needs. Although Hurricane Helene has passed, the health, hygiene, and recovery challenges in western North Carolina remain critical. Project HOPE recognizes the importance of addressing both hurricanes, regardless of their stage in the disaster cycle.
Project HOPE is on the ground in western North Carolina coordinating the distribution of essential health and water and sanitation (WASH) supplies to seven health care facilities and shelters across Buncombe, Henderson, and Jackson counties. Project HOPE is on the ground in Florida responding and providing search and rescue efforts, medicines, medical, and WASH supplies.
Through our emergency response activities, Project HOPE will provide water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) supplies, as well as much needed health supplies, surge staffing, and mental and psychosocial support for the impacted communities in North Carolina and Florida.
