Dear friends,
Thank you for supporting PSI’s “Buy a Net; Save a Life” project. Malaria affects approximately half of the world’s population but the majority of deaths are concentrated among children under five in sub-Saharan Africa. The “Buy a Net; Save a Life” project has increased access to malaria prevention and treatment through the delivery of long-lasting insecticide treated nets. With the help of your contributions, PSI has distributed 10,397,138 bed nets in 2012, thereby adding 3,787,241 years of healthy life around the world.
In 2011, PSI was involved in the delivery of about half of all the nets that were distributed in sub-Saharan Africa that year. To expand our reach, PSI distributes nets both for free and at highly subsidized prices through mass campaigns, routine health facility distributions, community health workers and the private sector.
Of the 150 million nets distributed by PSI since 1995, 52 percent were distributed via continuous distribution channels, such as antenatal care clinics and private sector retailers and 48 percent were distributed via mass distribution campaigns.
Thanks to your help, PSI can continue to promote safe and healthy lives in 69 countries around the world. We couldn’t do it without you.
Thank you for your continued support,
PSI
