Despite several measures to check climate change, the global carbon emission keeps increasing (21 billion tons in 1990 to 34 billion in 2015 while our planet can absorb only 10 billion in its nature) and the damage is getting more and more serious on landscape, forests and biodiversity, food production and water supply, human security and so on. Through this project, we plan to impart environmental education and plant 1000 local species of trees in hilly district of Solan, INDIA.
Land degradation and forestation have added to local community's misery. Their agriculture produce is declining. Change in climate and global warming is the result of high carbon emission. Degradation of land is leading to desertification and loss of biodiversity in relation to the composition of pastures, livestock, tree and crop systems, the soil biota and the hydrological systems. Consequently, our natural resources are put under immense pressure with drop in ground water table.
Increase in green cover through tree plantation will slowly restore our eco-system. Forests are the lungs of our land; they purify our air and provide the people a new strength. Biodiversity is a good indicator of land degradation and desertification. Education and practicing simple life style, energy conservation and use of renewable sources of energy are some of the the practices which will minimise carbon emission and restore environmental sanitation.
With the Local people working together, supported by others around the World, Fast Mountain Regeneration, with simple measures of tree plantation and soil and water conservation, is still potentially possible. The will reduce carbon emission and check climatic changes and global warming.
