This project will empower girls in 20 different countries by increasing the number of girls completing primary school, building girls' leadership roles, and advocating for girls' rights.
Education is more than reading and math. Education also means thinking critically and solving problems, learning how to get along with others, overcoming challenges, accepting leadership responsibilities and planning for success. At least 75 million children who should be in primary school are not. About 55% of those are girls.Denying girls an education leads to lower family incomes, higher maternal and child mortality, and a lack of representation and leadership from half the population.
Increasing the number of girls completing primary school through equitable, quality education; building girls' leadership skills through diverse extracurricular activities; and advocating for girls' rights.
By 2015, POWER WITHIN will enable 10 million girls in 20 countries to complete a primary education and develop leadership skills to guide their families and communities out of poverty.
