The 500+ children of Nyamagana will for the first time have a safe, child friendly space to exercise and just be children. The playground equipment will in turn help to teach them about balance, sharing, caring and improve their social skills while interacting with children and adults.
Children in the Village of Hope-Nyamagana have no place to collectively play together. Many of the schools they attend do not have a playground area either. As children are growing they need a safe place to play, to run off energy, whether a playground or a sports field. They need an active role to help develop their social and emotional skills. The children of the village go to school, collect water, collect firewood and help with the cooking and rearing of younger children.
A playground at Nyamagana will provide a large safe space where children can come and play at the playground. They will learn to share with each other by pushing swings or participating in seesaw. They will learn balance and helps by attempting to cross a balance beam. They will use their imagination and social skills playing in the wood fort. For the first time the boys and girls will have a football(soccer) pitch where they can compete against each other in football, teaching them about team.
The project will provide 500+ children with a safe space to play and learn. This will increase their abilities socially and relationally, whereby creating a more cohesive village environment. The parents will benefit from happier, healthier children which will also make the parents happy to see them laughing and playing together. In all we hope for a healthy village not only physically, but mentally and socially as well.
