Challenge

The impacts of climate change is here and now. The rise of sea water and extreme weather events have had tremendous social and economic implications to Filipino families who have lost their livelihood and homes and are currently in evacuation centers. De La Salle University's Disaster Management Response Program helps those affected by disasters in the Philippines, including Typhoon Haiyan.

Solution

The organization has four main programs, the community development, curriculum integration, institutional advocacy, and social awareness, formation and action.

Long-Term Impact

While the project is currently engaged in the collection and deployment of relief goods, Sagip Pilipinas aims to eventually rebuild affected communities and enable them to adopt a more pro-active, integrated approach to disaster management.

Additional Documentation

This project has provided additional documentation in a Microsoft Word file (projdoc.doc).
