Provide Care for a Differently Able Child's Pony

Spring is in Full Bloom

To All our Supporters,

First and foremost ----- THANK YOU!!!  Thank you for supporting our program this year and for sharing our information with friends and family.   Word of mouth has always been our most effective campaign and without a constant influx of new donors, supporters and volunteers we would not able to do what we do!

Spring is in full bloom and so is all the activity around the country for Personal Ponies.  This is the time of year when we face one of the greatest challenges in our program, TRAVEL.  For example, a long time volunteer and breeder of our program has some family issues and has to step away from her program which means we have 12 ponies in South Dakota to relocate.  Always our goal is to keep ponies in a local community but if that cannot be accomplished we must make arrangements.  Remember every single pony in our program is with us from birth to the end and we never sell, trade or barter.  Our ponies ARE cared for throughout their lives and often that means finding ways to get them where they are needed.  There are families waiting for ponies in Idaho and several of these South Dakota ponies are suitable so we wait for funds to become available or people to donate their time to travel the ponies to their new assignment.  The cost to move these ponies is likely in the ballpark of $1800.

Last month you all were gracious and generous enough to help with raising money for a young boy in Georgia who had his fifth spinal surgery at age 7.   We worked out transporting a very special pair of ponies from Virgina to Georgia and surprised him with two new friends and a driving cart and harness.  The look on his face was worth every minute and penny of planning!  Thank you all for helping make that happen.

We also have needed to help support some of our volunteers with the cost of gelding young colts so they can prepare themselves through intense training to become the companion of a young special needs child.   Each gelding costs about $300 and this spring we have had had to assist with the costs of 6 of them.

THANK YOU ALL!  Our program is small in many ways but big in heart.  Every single one of our volunteers who cares for one of our 1500 ponies, does so at their own cost.  No one is paid a penny either for their time and effort.  Any funds raised nationally is extra support to our volunteers efforts to reach more children and care for our ponies.  In some way, we reach children and adults in almost every state and every commmunity across the country.

Your support has been so very helpful to us.

With appreciation

Denise Chasin, National Director, Personal Ponies Ltd.

Helps pay for feed and hay for a child's pony. Many times paying for pony care can be cost prohibitive and our national office tries to help. Providing money for feed and hay can make a difference.
Helps cover some of the yearly health costs for maintaining a child's pony. Veterinarian fees can be costly, especially given the costs a family faces for the care of a differently able child.
Pays part of transport costs for pony travel. Getting our ponies to the children that need them can be very costly. Transport is one of our biggest challenges
Provides funds for breeding costs for broodmare and foal care. Without volunteer breeders we have no future program. Breeders are in need of financial support at times especially for foaling.
Will cover the costs for a new family to purchase halters, leadlines, water buckets, grooming equipment, and saddles or driving equipment.
Pay the cost of gelding one of our young colts so that he can begin his life as a child's pony friend. All colts not in our breeding program are gelded at around 6 months of age.
Will help care for one of our retired ponies for one year. Retired ponies have given a life of service often need extra care and support. Retired ponies are treated with great care and appreciation.
Will be held in savings for emergency care for a pony whose family needs help. Economic conditions or personal situations require emergency financial support so a child can keep his or her ponies.
