We have been fortunate to have been given a unique opportunity to raise additional funds and support our amazing kids through GlobalGiving’s June Bonus Day.  Two generous donors came forward and the following school children will benefit from your recent donations of GH¢ 250 – GH¢ 280 (Ghanaian Cedi).

  1. Erica  - GH¢ 60 full school tuition this term
  2. Vira  - GH¢ 50 to support her mother to purchase food to take care of Vira.
  3. Lauren  - GH¢ 100 part tuition (Lauren’s school  fees are GH¢220 per a term)
  4. Nidaar  - GH¢60 full tuition for this school term

In July, the children continue to develop and progress. Erica and Vira are in class one and in the second term of the academic year and are learning English Language, Ghanaian Language, math, science, social and cultural studies. Being able to go to school this term means Erica and Vira are engaging in all school activities including this term physical education (PE) and worship service classes.

Nidaar and Lauren are in nursery school. The four children are in good condition and happy for the support they are receiving from you our passionate donors and from your continued support.

Our next goal is a September fundraiser - where fundraisers themselves can earn prizes from their amazing effort - please contact!

Here is more detailed background about our wonderful children. As an orphan, Erica relies on the help of PAAJAF otherwise she would be thrown out of school.

Lauren has a single mother, her father died, and currently her mother has no job and finds it difficult to take care of her and the brother Kwaku.  A donation means we can step in to part-pay this term’s fees and support her education.

Vira has a single mother who has not seen her father since her birth.  Her mother is employed to teach nursery school with small take home pay that could not take care of Vira.  Your donations provide support her mother so she can provide nutritious food to Vira

Through a generous sponsorship donation Nidaar's school fees can be paid in full this term helping her remain in nursey, we have stepped in because Nidaar’s father is only able to secure casual labor and her mother remains at home to look after children, making things difficult for Niddar to meet her educational needs.

Once again, thank you for your kindness and support across the world. We continue to campaign to local residents about our children and raising awareness at a local level.

Our beneficiaries and their families are grateful for the generous donations PAAJAF has received to fund school fees for 7 poor children in Gbawe.  Each school term fee is $90 per child; from your donations, you made it possible for full payment of fees for 4 children and part payment of fees for 3 additional children.

The children we help are underprivileged and from poor backgrounds where families are struggling to make ends meet. Some are orphans or neglected with no other means of attending the overcrowded public school. PAAJAF checks the financial situation of the families and ascertain which children desperately need help and steps in to provide that assistance.

Payment of school fees has given the children below the ability to attend school for the first 2013 term. They continue to learn reading, writing, math and science subjects in their respective schools and have the courage to make friends and develop. From all of us – Thank You.

We start the year with a big Thank You to everyone. The year 2012 was a great challenge but our collaboration with you as donors and volunteers enabled PAAJAF to sponsor 6 children’s school fees and provide welfare support to 2 additional children.

Without your help we would not have been able to reach our beneficiaries.  Please, let us celebrate the impact we have made.

PAAJAF identifies children in desperate circumstances, orphans, neglected and poor children. $90 pays for one child’s school term, there are 3 school terms in an academic year. Your 2012 donations enabled us to settle school fees for the following poor children:

  • Gilbert and Ebenezer are senior high school students; they want to go to university to become qualified accountants. Ebenezer says...”I want to become an accountant and learn business, I am 7th born of my parents and PAAJAF have helped pay my school fees.”
  • Lauryn’s mother is a widow; with no form of income therefore donations have meant Lauryn can attend primary classes.
  • Vira was abandoned by her father and lives with her mother. Her mother works as a nursery teacher with monthly of income of $50. On her own, it is barely enough to pay the school fees.  With your help, Vira is now attending school.
  • Erica is an orphan and was frequently given school notices for her dress-code and threatened with expulsion from school. Now Erica is at primary school. Erica’s aunt is incredibly grateful to donors.
  • Christpher now attends pre-school, Christpher's mother Doris says " I am much grateful to the donors for Christpher's Education.  It is marvelous to see this. There was no hope but your donation has put smile to my face and my child's face."

In addition, we are grateful to sponsors contributing to the well-being of 2 year old Nidaar and 7 year old orphan Ben. This is providing food, clothes, vaccines and school fees. Thank you so much for your support.

Ben’s sponsor Mainak from the USA says “I’ve decided to sponsor a child in Ghana because it really makes a difference. I’ve chosen to sponsor Ben, 7, because I really want to help him to have a better life...”  We are very happy for Ben.

Regular contributions from donors, even $10 a month (less than a cup of coffee per day) helps improve a needy child’s life. It gives a child basic necessity – food such as rice and maize, a vaccine, a school book, durable clothing and improved living conditions. Additionally, donors help give a needy child emotional and mental comfort because he or she knows that someone cares for him or her elsewhere. Find out more about PAAJAF children

Please note Global Giving matches all monthly recurring donations. Please pass this message on to friends and family and spread the sponsor a child story. We are also grateful to Global Giving for raising awareness of this project on their website and in their social media.

Our goal for 2013, by the end of the year we want to be able to extend child sponsorship from six to twenty and resume other projects that are on hold due to lack of funding. We will keep you updated on our children’s progress!

How can we work together to attract wider support for this cause and help more children? Your ideas and suggestions are gratefully received - please email

We are happy to report some great news - we have a new sponsor for Nidaar! A school in the Czech Republic is helping to sponsor Nidaar each year with a contribution towards her food, clothes, vaccines and school fees.

Nidaar is 2 years old. Her family income is only around $15 – $20 per month. Her father is a stone mason that only gets temporary work. PAAJAF have identified her as a child in need. With your sponsorship, Nidaar will have new opportunities to learn and grow. We want to provide Nidaar vaccines to prevent infant diseases, clean water and food.

The month of September we raised $102 in donations, this has helped to buy food and contribute to school fees of the children we help.

As we approach Christmas we are increasing our campaign work to find sponsors for 20 of our most desperate and needy children, contacting organizations and media.

We also need your help to spread the word – through Facebook, Twitter, email or fundraising activities, with your help we can support these amazing kids. Here are some fun(d)raising ideas to get you started:
