Your donation will be used to provide our 17 program sites with the support they need to deliver mentoring anto approximately 5,000 students across Canada who are at-risk of dropping out of high school. Pathways' mentoring program focuses on healthy social development of confidence building in a positive and safe environment that encourages youth to dream and plan for a successful future.
Every year, thousands of Canadian students make the life-altering decision to drop out of high school. In some of the country's most vulnerable neighbourhoods, more than 50 per cent of students do not graduate high school, taking a dramatic toll on our communities, our health and justice systems, and our economy. This project will provide approximately 5,000 Canadian students with a comprehensive set of academic, financial and social supports.
The Pathways to Education Mentoring program will provide Pathways' 17 program sites with the support they need to deliver group and career mentoring. Group mentoring provides students with a positive sense of belonging and adult role models and is aimed at reducing isolation, promoting the development of social skills and personal identitity. Career mentoring provides students with the opportuniy to explore future education and employment options while sharpening the skills needed to succeed.
Pathways program results continue to far exceed early hopes to reduce the dropout rate of youth in low-income communities the dropout rate for youth in Pathways' Regent Park program has declined by more than 70 per cent with 75 per cent of the program graduates going on to attend college or university. The Boston Consulting Group concludes that Pathways to Education generates tremendous social economic value with a $24 return to society for $1 invested in the program.
