CISV offers a range of local activities, international camps, and community-based projects. They are organized by our 20 volunteers and our 40 families for young people. Participants have the opportunity to engage in camps abroad and connect with children of various nationalities. More than 300 children have participated to international camps since the creation of CISV Ouest in 2017, while also hosting camps. CISV focuses on peace education, diversity, human rights and sustainable development.
CISV Ouest provides an opportunity for children from different social backgrounds to meet, engage in activities, and foster global friendships. However, with the rising costs of summer camps, meals, and transportation, continuing our mission for all becomes a significant challenge. CISV must also train its leaders so they get the skills to accompany children abroad.
In order to get invitations to enable young people from CISV OUEST to participate to camps abroad, we must also host international camps in western France. CISV Ouest rents campsites, pays for the meals, hire coaches to organize camps in France. The leaders who accompany the children are trained to get the skills and deal with child protection according to CISV education principles. With this opportunity we make sure this education activity continues, so children become global citizen.
Peace education equips us with the attitudes, skills, and knowledge needed to become agents of change, both locally and globally. In other words, it prepares individuals to become active global citizens. Empowered young people will, in turn, grow into adults capable of contributing to a more just and peaceful world.
